Metallica Is Back

Over the past few weeks, famous band Metallica has been telling fans that their first studio album in eight years, Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, will be ‘available everywhere November 18’.

And they actually pulled through with that promise, with a little bit of a surprise that definitely was not expected.

Their full album is available on Apple Music, Spotify and even available to stream on the bands official YouTube page with its complete own music video

Not only does this come as a shock because they could be a start of a new trend on releasing music to YouTube but its also because the bands long time manager, Q Prime’s Peter Mensch, called YouTube “the devil” in a recent interview with BBC.

He said, “YouTube? They’re the devil. If someone doesn’t do something about Youtube we’re screwed. Its over. Turn off the lights.”

Metallica owns the master copyright to Hardwired…To Self Destruct, one of Q4’s most anticipated relates via their own Blackened Recording Inc. So this means that it was actually their own idea to link up with YouTube.

So maybe its because they knew that their fans were already going to download it themselves so why not just make it that much easier for them to be available to it.

Or maybe Metallica was just being Metallica and purposely trying to be controversial and doing the unexpected. I only say this because of the bands reputation when looking at how they have dealt with companies that their music is released on. In 2000 the band created a lawsuit against Napster suing them for $10 million.
