The well known Kanye West claims that if Frank Ocean’s new album doesn’t receive any nominations at the 2017 Grammys for his two recent releases, Blonde and the “visual album” Endless he will not be attending the event.
West says at his concert in Oakland, California (Oct. 22), “I’ll tell you this right now, if his album is not nominated in no categories, I’m not showing up to the Grammys...As artists, we’ve got to come together to fight the bullshit.”
West’s comment arrives less than a week after Billboard broke the sad news that Blonde and Endless will in fact not appear on the Grammy nominees list when it is revealed in December. A source confirmed that neither album was submitted for consideration by Oceans labels or management team even though both albums were released before the Grammy eligibility cutoff date.
Frank Ocean had been “in hiding” since his album Channel Orange was released in 2012. With the success of Channel Orange fans and listeners have been wanting more and more. In late 2013, Ocean hinted than an album would arrive the following summer. And then last year, he teased a July release date. So with the constant demand of new music he finally released not one but two albums this past August.
