Technological determinism is a term that I just recently discovered in my MI 101 class. This means that the rate at which we innovate technology and utilize it in different ways determines what our culture is like. One big example i could use is the iPhone. There are millions of people who own iPhones and use them ever yday. Anytime the iPhone gets an update, the electronic fiends of today’s society (i.e. everyone) immediately hop on the band wagon and go out to buy an iPhone. The iPhone 7 just came out about a week ago and I coincidentally was at the mall at the time. The line for the apple store was wrapped around the actual building. We are so controlled by technology these days..you could almost call it brainwashing. It’s getting to a point where if you have an iPhone and you are texting someone who has green messages, you don’t feel obligated to talk to them. It’s as if they don’t exist.
